Abstract
Religious functions are considered an important function for any city, as they contribute to its development and may even be a reason for the emergence of the city itself. They are also considered an effective tool in attracting residents, which in turn positively impacts the city. Therefore, this study seeks to uncover the religious function in the city of Fadhiliyah, as well as to identify the most important religious sites, shrines, and tombs in the city, and the role of this function. The study concluded that the area has a religious character because it is characterized by the presence of many important shrines, such as the shrines of Al-Khidr and Al-Abbas Al-Hadi, which are visited by many people. It also contains numerous mosques and husayniyas. The city's shrines, as well as the mosques and husayniyas, played a developmental role, and the religious services function supported the city's economy and its communication with neighboring cities through the establishment of numerous homes, shops, and other financially profitable institutions. This is considered one of the most important religious functions. The study recommended that attention be paid to the roads leading to the shrines, furnishing them, and managing the shrines in the study area by specialized authorities, as they are more familiar with these shrines.
